Investing in Tomorrow: FOAH Launches Student Internships and Scholarships

At Friends of Affordable Housing (FOAH), we believe solving the housing crisis starts by investing in the next generation. That’s why we’re proud to announce a new initiative that will provide internships, hands-on learning opportunities, and scholarships for local high school students interested in shaping the future of their communities.

Beginning soon, students from Memorial High School, North Bergen High School, and Union City High School will have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the world of affordable housing, real estate development, urban planning, and public policy. Through these internships, students will work alongside professionals who are actively creating housing solutions across New Jersey, giving them a unique look into how neighborhoods are planned, developed, and revitalized.

The program is designed to introduce students to careers they may have never considered. Participants will learn about everything from affordable housing finance and construction to community engagement, zoning, public policy, and the development process. More importantly, they’ll see how thoughtful planning and responsible development can create stronger, more affordable communities for working families.

In addition to internships, FOAH will also award scholarships to students from each participating high school who plan to pursue higher education in planning, public policy, real estate development, architecture, engineering, or related fields. These scholarships are intended to help remove financial barriers while encouraging students to continue making a positive impact in their communities.
